Cancerous thinking is selfish thinking. Cancerous thinking believes one is into something for self instead being a part of the whole. Cancerous thinking can be useful in capitalism but it is severely detrimental to and for most communities. YOLO for example, encourages some to live with no worry of repercussions. Conveniently, some of these same people seem to forget for every action there is reaction.
Out of sight out of mind doesn't mean the notion, problem or thing no longer exist...that just means you can no longer readily see it.
